J. B. SMITHS COMING RACERS Blue Ridge Band of Yearlings for James B. Smiths 1922 Stable. The list of thirty yearlings bought a few days ago by James B. Smith, the San Francisco coal merchant, who is making his return to activity as an owner of thoroughbreds, presents an interesting study. Included in the H. T. Oxnard crop arc sixteen colts and fourteen fillies. They are the product of the mating of King James. Vulcain and Superman with a band of biood mares, many of which have given winners to the turf. Foremost, from a breeding angle just at present, is a chestnut filly by Vulcain, from Lotawanna. the dam of Gladiator. Dinawick, the dam of Dinna Care, also is represented, as is Adelinette, the dam of Dr. Joe, American Boy and Halu. Sandy Deals dam, Franks Daughter, has a filly by Vulcain in the aggregation, and Colorvieto, the dam of the good two-year-old Misdeal, lias a bay filly by King James. Mill Maid, a full sister to Mad Hatter, is represented in the lot by a filly by Vulcain. An effort is being made to obtain the use of the Pimlico track for the breaking of the Smith youngsters.
