LAST DAY AT BEULAH PARE COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 7.— T. W. Nicols Optimist, winner of the Inaugural Handicap at this meeting, also accounted for the handicap which featured the concluding days racing at Beulah Park this afternoon. Once more it was after a hard drive that he gained the laurels, this time from Begonia, with Herbertus third. Superior handling by jockey L. Hardy was responsible for Optimists success. He sent him through next the inner rail after going half the trip and after shaking off Herbertus stood a hard drive gamely at the end to stall off Begonia. The latter was forced to work her way up on the outside following a slow beginning, but was slowly wearing the winner down. With three winners to his credit, the riding of jockey L Hardy was again a feature today. Ideal conditions prevailed for getaway day and a crowd which taxed to capacity the accommodations of the plant witnessed the sport. J. S. Baldwin and the mare Kentucky Rose were today restored to good standing by the stwards. . . — « — ,
