G Wells English Jockey Stars at Irish Meetings MeetingsBy By Special Correspondent DUBLIN Ireland George Wells the English jockey was much in the limelight at the April Baldoyle meet ¬ ing when he booted his only three mounts to victory His successes were gained on Mrs D G F Barleys Easy Passage in the fivefurlong Howtli TwoYearOld Plate on Miss Dorothy Pagets threeyearold Fath ¬ er Knapp in the one mile one furlong and eightyyard Dublin Plate and on W E Wylies threeyearold Tolta in the fivefurlong Raheny Plate PlateWells Wells was one of our bestknown jockeys Possibly our first real understanding of his skill was when he rode The Gripper in the Irish Cesarewitch Stakes more than three years ago In that year he had 161 mounts of which twentythree were winners twentyone runnersup and seventeen thirds thirdsA A successful apprentice rider in England prior to coming to this country Wells can scale at 112 pounds He rides as a free lance and as a result his services are in keen demand
