Experienced Stewards Supervise Downs Sport SportFinley Finley Goode and PlautServe in Stand at Kentucky Derby Oval OvalCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNS Louisville Ky May 4 The conduct of this meeting in ¬ cluding the running of the eightysecond Kentucky Derby is under the complete supervision of the three stewards Lewis Finley Jr Jack G Goode and Lincoln Plaut Men of wide and varied experience in all phases of thoroughbred racing their word on all matters connected with racing at Churchill Downs is final and authori ¬ tative tativePinley Pinley who is the state steward is from Georgetown Ky and comes from a family of horsemen breeders and tobaccogrowers In 1953 while still training the stable of Tom Daniel Pinley saddled Ace Destroyer j who finished up the track in Dark Stars Derby His first official post came at the Hamilton Ohio track and he has also served in various capacities at Keeneland and Dade Park ParkGoode Goode an official for over eight years is a son of the late John M Goode one of Americas best known trainers who de ¬ veloped such horses as Cold Check Dark Jungle and Tiger Rebel He makes his home in Paris Ky is active in the tobacco market during the winter months Goode has served at Hawthorne River Downs Lincoln Fields and Keeneland KeenelandLincoln Lincoln Plaut at one time field super ¬ visor for DAILY RACING FORM was racing secretary at Churchill Downs over the past several seasons stepped up to the stewards stand this year with the retirement of the veteran Sam McMeekin The Cincinnatian lias also worked at Hawthorne River Downs and Oriental Park
