MAY RACE AT CLEVELAND. "The uncertainty regarding the baseball situation in this city is reviving the talk of a local running track, and it would not be surprising if a company should be organized to build one here in tho near future. A city like Cleveland if deprived of the kind of baseball that it will support will naturally turn to some other kind of sport, and there aro those who think that tho times aro ripo for a .first-class running track here. A city the size of Cleveland without a running meeting in its vicinity is something unheard of in these times, and tho only wonder is that someone has not recognized what an excellent opportunity is afforded here before," says the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "There has been much talk of a running track hero and tho ground has been frequently looked over by parties interested in the sport, but nothing has ever come of it. Now, however, the prospects aro exceedingly brignt. For some time a correspondence has been going on between some well known running track pro-motors and parties in this city and tho result is that in a few days some of those most interested will come on hero to look over the situation. "H. H. Dargan, of St. Louis, is one of tho prime movers of the project. He has been connected with some of tho best tracks in the country and onco before came very close to locating ono hero. H. T. Rodman, the local agont for Dun and Co., who has been interested in running horse enterprises with Dargan often in the past, has been looking over the local situation for him."
