NOTES OF THE TURF. Tho New York World says that tho important New York racing associations, Westchester, Coney Island and Brooklyn, havo at last yielded to tho demand by horsemen for increased values for overnight races. It is not probable that any official announcement will be made, but tho fact of tho increase will be evident when the program for the first big metropolitan meeting, beginning at Morris Park May 6, is published. A meeting of the officers of tho three clubs, hold about a week ago, considered the proposition that purses be raised, and decided that the prosperous condition of the turf in the east would justify an increase of values. A new scale of values was agreed upon, but just what this is only the officers of the three racetracks know. Apparently the relegation of tho Lexington racetrack to a place in the list of things that were is not to take place immediately. Tha order of Mr. Charles Green to owners, trainers and jockeys having horsos at tho Kentucky Association course to vacate the premises by March 1 has been rescinded, and they will ba allowed to remain indefinitely. At Ferris, Texas, on February 19, tha stables of J. M. Batchelor were destroyed by fire and J. M. B., bay horso, foaled 1891, by Don Carlos-Juno, by Cariboo out of Reply, by Enquirer was burned. The trial of tho indicted Bennings officials and bookmakers, carried over from last fallf has been set for Friday and Saturday of this . weok in tho District of Columbia Criminal I Court.
