NOTES OF THE TURF. W. Martin has reported to trainer Welch of the Floischmann stable and has been busily engaged in exercising the horses. He is in excellent condition and says he will be able to ride close to 100 pounds when it becomes necessary. If permitted he will probably carry out his conditional engagement to ride Onomastus in the Tennessee Derby. Milton Young will have a handsome monument erected over Hanovers grave. It is said that within a year past Young had refused two high offers for Hanover, one of 0,000 from J. B. Haggin and another of 5,000 from W. C. Whitney. Lamplighter will probably now be considered premier stallion at McGrathiana. Rush and Spirituelle are both reported to have grown and improved in the way that turf, men like, and are taking their early work in satisfactory style at Louisville. Jockey J. Morgan is on his way east to report to trainer Mosson. He is under engagement to ride for Marcus Daly this year. Jockeys H. Martin, Bloss and Cay wood have arrived in Little Rock, where they will ride during the coming meeting,
