G OSSIP Of THE TURF. L. V. Bell, the Wall street broker, is collecting a stable that will stand a great deal of beating when the Bpring of 1900 rolls around. In place of Jake Marklein, Mr. Bell has secured Jimmy McCormick to handle his string. Mr. Sell recently paid ,100 for the good two-year-old Mischievous, by Sir Dixon. He also paid ,000 for Somerset, by Great Tom, and ,000 . for Midsummer, a two-year-old, by July Lady j Middleton.
