GOOD RACING AT HAWTHORNS. Owner J. Meagher, jockey N. Bay and the entire Canadian contingent connected with the owner of the jumper Marble were suspended by presiding judge Harry Kuhl yesterday at Hawthorne pending an investigation about the in and out running of Marble. Tbe horse came to life with a start in yesterdays steeplechase and Mr. Kohls ruling was inline. In Marbloa recent races the horse has receded in the betting and has not shown quality or speed. But yesterday h? was backed from 10 to 1 down to 8 to 1, had plenty of speed, and made tho same horses that have heretofore been beating him look cheap. The clever way in which Ray rode Marble was the feature of tbe days racing. He rated the gelding nicely, aided him with skill at the fences and never made a move until the last obstruction had been cleared. Then he sent Marble along fast. He went to tbe front like a flash and won pulled up. Globo II., the natural favorite for tha race, was the victim of a miser-able ride and landed ia third place. OBrien on Globe II. rode as though the race was a sevon days walking match. Out of the second rice, at three-quarters of a mile for two-year-olds, came a cl se finish that set the crowd on fire. It was between Erla dOr and Alice Turner. Both were well supported. Eila dOr swung into the stretch with a comfortable letd, while Alice Turner was in the rnck and pocketed. About a furlong from the finish Alice Turner got clear and, coming like a flash, put Erla dOr to a drive. The latter is a good, game filly, stood off Alice Turners ru?h and won by a nose. Tommy Burns beat tho barrier and won the fifth race all the -way with The Bush. The youngster won in such an impressive way that J. H. Smith thought he would like to have him and raised his price from 00 to ,000. John Schorr Jr. bid 1,005 and retained the colt. Schorr did not stop hero, either. To get oven he claimed Yoloco for 00 and a selling race war is probably brewing. That Tony Licalzi know what he was about when he bought King Barmuda is evident. The King seems to be able to win whenever he is placed right, and the eight and one-half furlong race was a cake walk for htm. He was the natural favorite with Burns up. Burns loafed along with him to the strotch and when hs called on him the King went to the front without trouble. Eitholin finished second and Bishop Beed third. Quito a bit of class got together in the closing mile condition race and Mizpah, with a lot tho best of the weights, won as he plessod. He was ridden by Burns, was at a favorites price and the win was a popular one. A five furlong scramble for four-year-olds and upward is a rare thing these days, but such were the conditions of the first race which Hormoso, at 10 to 1. won in a gallop. Bookmakers Hittick, Duckworth and Laude-man leave today for Cincinnati.
