HAWTHOUXE RACING. Friday was the last day bat one of Haw-thones 1599 racing season. The afternoon was bright and summery and the going was at its boat and the attendance of holiday proportions. The racing all through was marked by incidents oat of the ordinary Hue and the only strong features were Tulla Fonsos fast mile and the regularity with which the favorites were bowled over. Winning favorites have been very scarce at the recant meeting, but yesterday mast have baen a banner day for the ring as the talent failed to score once. Perhaps the hardest blow the speculators got was in .the last race, which was at a mile, and hero is whoro Tulla Fonso made her fast time. The filly stepped once aronnd the ring in 1:391, which equals the track reccrd held jointly by Tenby, Miapah and Dr. Nembula. For this race j Streamer, with 97 pounds and Tommy Burns up, was a staunch favorite at about 13 to 10. Tulla Fonso was at one time as good as 11 to 5, but the sharpshooters unloaded oa her and at post time she was backed do n to 3 to 5. Starter .yer was good to Tulla Foaso and sent her away about a length in front. She had spead galore, and going at a torrific pace she opened up a big gap early. The first five furlongs were run in 1:011 acd Tulla Fonso wa3 five lengths in front. On the turn Streamer seemed to gain a trifle on the flying machine in front but when Tulla Fonso rolled off the first three-quarters in 1:131 and still had something left it seemed to discourage both Streamer and Burns. They never gave up, however, and before the finish was reached put Tulla Fonso to a drive. The filly stood the drive, and staggering and out to the limit, managed to lest long enough to win by about two lengths. Diggs won au extra good race for him from Farroll ia the sacoud, a seven-furlong event. Digga was lucky and well ridden by Burns and this accounts for his makinj suii a good showing, Ferroll, the favorite, tried to run out on the stretch turn and this left plenty of Toom for Diggs to coma through on the rail, which he did. It was no fault of Dngans that Ferroll want wide on the turu as Bhe always doea this and cannot be broken of the habit. Ed Corrigans filly Basseda seems to be in hir b33t form again, aul shi woa the thre6-quirtor two-yeir-old event off by herself. For some unknown reason The Monk, who has been running poorly of lita. was made a 6 to 5 favorite over Bas3edn. He finished third. Nellie Foneo, after many a trial, at last broke out of tha maiden clas3. She got a flyin? start in tho first race and won all the way.; tLThe fourth and fifth races, which were at one mile and a sixteenth and one mile, respectively, were won by Friar John and Jimp. In both casas tha selling race war was evident. Friar John was run up 5203 over his entered price by W. P. Magrane, and Handicappar Miller boosted Jimp from 3500 to 00. Both owners retained their horse3 for the customary fiver. J. J. Calm b.53 sold his fast filly Silver Fizz, hy Silver Fox Toaiquo, to Pat Corrigan. Mr. Hf ju declared yesterday that all tho horses he nad in training wore for sale. " Jockey Boyd, who came to a suddsa end riding Glob II. Moaday last, was givea burial at Mr. John Breaocks expense Thursday. Today is the windup at Hiw;horn3 for this aeaion aid Maniger McAvor dasarves being highly co nplemeutei for the way in which he hashiuilei tli3 bisineis end of the racing. McAvoy is a Cnicigo mm au 1 his ma ny friends ara glad thit the Hiwthorne miating has boea a big Hnarielal success.
