SPEEDY HlWXHORNr. Hawthorne is a very fast racetrack this year. This has" been strikingly illustrated by the number of time 3 1 :40 has been beaten in the course of its tea weeks of exceedingly good racing. In that feature it is the record holder. It is rarely that 1:10 is beaten oa any of the faster tracks of the country but it has been doae so frequently at Hawthorne that it hardly excites comment. Yet it about represents the limit of Bpeed. Nine horses have passed the mark at Hawthorne. Two, Tenby and 8errano, having twice performed the uausual feat.
