Winner- Blk. g. by Albert— Piazza. Went to post at 2 :30. At post 5 minutes. Start good. Won in a hard drive ; second and third were also driving. Ed Gartlaud II. ran a smashing good race. He was well ridden. Moody was slow in getting away from the post, but he persevered with tlie gelding in the early part of the journey and came with a well timed rush through the stretch. He was interfered with a trifle by Emma M. when the latter quit, otherwise he would have won by a greater margin. Miller rode a miserable race on Boney Boy. especially at the finish, when he was more of a handicap than a help to the horse. Miss Shanley broke flying and showed a fine turn of speed. San Mateo ran a fair race considering that he lost a lot of ground by making a wide turn into the stretch. Emma M. stopped almost to a walk in the last sixteenth. Isabinda showed a flash of early speed. Maud Ferguson will do better on a fast track. The first three were close , together anil driving to the limit. Lady Meddlesome is a game little filly. She was under keen pressure from the head of the stretch home and never for an instant faltered. Devin rode a clever race, using his hand:- until the last few strides then he went after the filly hot with his whip. The 1 Elector made up a lot of ground in the stretch and showed to be about in his best form. Mark him for early action. Trimmer hung at the end and may have been a trifle short. He saved much ground by skimming the rails at the head of the stretch. When Trimmer tired Miller . also seemed to tire. Both Prestar and Astor were used too much in the first part of the race and both tired badly at the end. Rollins did not run his race. Scratched— 17804 Dutch Comedian, 112; 17948 Murat, 112. Won eased up; second whipped out; i third eased also. Globe 11. had clear sailing, was well ridden and won a lucky race. He is a 1 clean fencer and never made a mistake in the entire journey. Monita fenced well and had no excuses. ■ After Meddler went wrong and Chenier and Becky Rolfe fell, the race, as a contest, was ■ a fizzle. Meddler was going well in hand when he came to the water jump for the first time, but b the old rogue bolted outside the flag and Johnson was obliged to pull up and go back to where 3 the horse made the mistake. This, of course, ruined whatever chance he had of winning. Johnson ■ was scored on all sides for allowing Meddler to bolt. The boy did the best he could, however, " and was not to blame. Chenier seemed to be going easily when he fell. Both he and Becky Rolfe got ugly looking falls, but fortunately no damage resulted. Globe 11., place, 2 to 1; show, evens. Sam Fullen ran a fine race and is a crackerjack in the mud. He had to be to beat Hermoso under the conditions that he did. The latter is a horse of phenomenal speed J and loves the mud. He was at his very best in this race, and after getting away well on his stride bet a terrific pace. He is a coward at his best, and in the last fifty yards tired badly. Tuthill, on ! the inside in the worst going all the way, made a good showing. Knight rode a poor race on Hard 1 Knot, being slow at the post and making up altogether too much ground from the half mile post t to the quarter post. Andes, off badly, ran a good race. Celeritas was never bothersome. Neither r was Ben Ledi nor Emma R. Scratched- 16558 Mint Sauce. 119: 17631Headwater. 106; 17996Ailanto. 99; 17996 Goebel. 106. 1 Overweights— Celeritas, 3 pounds. Hattus is- a good youngster. He can run in any kind of going, has a lot of apeed and ean go a route. Rio de Altar is a grand looker of the Emperor 1- of Norfolk tylpe, has a phenomenal turn of speed but has a tough mouth, is heavy-headed u and a trifle flighty. He ran far oat in two different breakaways and tins used him up to some extent. Fancy wood could never get near the two leaders. The others were beaten off all the way. He was interfered with by Microscope on the first turn but not enough to hurt his chances to any great extent. Little Waldo went away from the post whipping on Microscope and kept at him all the way until in the last fifty yards. Bermuda Prince showed early speed but quit after going a half and was probably short. This horse has worked a mile in 1 :43 and can be marked when the track dries out.
