HAWTHORNE GOSSIP. The money in the Turf Congress Handicap was divided as follows : J. F. Schorr, owner of winner ,330 J.F.Schorr, trainer of winner 200 Thomas Burns, rider of winner 75 Wood Hoffman, owner of second horse 300 R. Tucker, trainer of second horse 100 B. Silvers, rider of second horse 50 H. J. Grothe. owner of third horse 150 F. E. Philips, trainer 50 T. Moody, rider 25 L. Ezell, owner of fourth 50 *s,:«o Jockey Moody was fined 5 by Starter Holt-man for pulling up his mount at the post in the 1 14 mile race, and this just wiped out his Turf Congress "bit. Jockey Waldo was assessed #25 for the same offense. Lieutenant Gibson and His Excellency arrived at Hawthorne last night. Gibson may be given a workout in a purse race Saturday. An effort is being made by Secretary Letcher to arrange a Sweepstakes at 00 each between Sofala. Garry Hermann. Miss Bennett and Silverdale, with ,000 added by the Hawthorne management. The actual attendance yesterday was 12,390.
