Dr. Eichberg was a good horse today, held the race safe from start to finish and was much the best. Mazo lost ground at the jumps, but was speedy between obstacles. Athanas is a promising hurdler. James raced Intrusive into submission and was going away at finish, although he had to be hustled a bit to stall off Wait Not in the stretch. He was best on form and should have been favorite. He is underrated. Maiden ran a good race and finished strongly under punishment. Quiz displayed fine speed but quit when Tonicum caught and outstayed him. Tower of Candles also ran a good race. Carl Kahler was never prominent. He got off badly and was given an easy ride. Hesper ran a fine race and closed fast and strongly through the stretch under punishment. Trumpet became prominent on the stretch turn and was in front to the last furlong. He contended gamely with Hesper but tired and was all out. Kamara closed fast through the 6tretch and ran a good race. Gold Or was made too much use of in front and tired.
