Peep o Day ran well for his first out this year, but was a bit short and should be hard to beat froir. now on. Heliobas was the best but he got away poorly and was crowded several times on tbe backst retch. He was closing fast at the finish and would have won in another twenty-five yard-Vulcain made up a lot of ground in the last quarter. He and Vesnvian got off poorly. Irritable ran a fast, game race, but the weight made him falter in the last dozen strides Prince Pepper showed early speed, but stopped after going well for a half mile. Mesmeris: would probably have done better had OConnor gone on with him instead of trying to "place him. McMeekin was outrun in the first part of the race, but made a strong bid in the stretch.
