Fancy Wood, outrun in the first part of the race, closed stoutly in the stretch and at the end had juite a bit in reserve. Miss Bennett was probabh slioi t. She siiowed much speed, but she and Tenny Belle went at snch a terrific pace in the first half thai the both stopped when the pinch came. This race should be a great help to Miss Bennett. Tenny Belle is a very fast filly but has the habit of bolting, and in this race she, as usual, went out on the stretch turn. Better ridden, Battus could not have lost second place. He is ■ good, honest colt and is as garni as a pebble. Denizulu ran a bad race. So did Dandy Jim, who was slow in breaking awa. from the post. Winner— B. g, by Dundee— Our Pet. Went to pose at 2:45. At post 13 minutes. Start good. The first three were head and head and hard at it. Goal Runner ran a corking good race and was well ridden. His performance was a great improvement over his last showing. Pay the Fiddler, off in the rear division and roughly treated throughout, perhaps ran the best race of the field. Maggie Davis was on the in-. side in the worst going all the way and when the pinch came little Waldo was of little or no help to her. Glonoine finished stoutly. Alice B. had no excuses, but simply stopped after going a half mile. John A. Morris, a red-hot tip, showed a lot of speed, but quit at the end like a quarter horse. Forbush was sharply shut off at the start. -Scratched -15337 George Krats, 112; 16435 Josephine B., 106. Overweights— Plantain, 1 pound; Neuberger, 1. Goal Runner, place, 3 to 1 ; show, 7 to 5. Globe 11. was the best and best ridden. Eggerson waited in a good position until the stretch was reached, and then he shot to the front like a Hash Viking fared well, showed a lot of speed and hung on gamely at the end. Chenier could not keep up in the first part of the race, and seemed i to go lame and sore. Do not count this race for him in future form calculations. Van Brunt ran i a fair race. Frond is a fine jumper and has a lot of speed, but Johnson rode a bad race on her, , using her entirely too much in the first part of the race. Collins on Zufallig broke a stirrup » leather and was obliged to pull up. Globe II., place, evens; show, 1 to 2 ; Viking, place, 3 to 1 ; show, 6 to 5. Chenier, show, 1 to2. Winner— B. c, by Esher— Elopement. Went to post at 4 :00. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily; it was a tight fit i and a hot drive for second place. Alcedo was cleverly ridden and ran like a good colt. He was in the best going all the way and avoided all interference. Sam Fullen had no excuses and ran right to the mark. Silvers drove him hard all through the stretch, and the colt stood it gamely. Larkspur showed a lot of speed and at the head of the stretch appeared to have a winning ; chance, but could not stand off Alcedos rush at the end. Miss Mae Day was coughing leaving ; the paddock, and ran like a sick horse. The betting indicated a sick horse, too. The Lady was : never in it. Neither was Handpress. Off at the first break to a good start. Won very easily. The next f three were doing their best. His Excellency was giving away weight to all other starters and u u like ■ gentleman. This colt is a sure enough race horse and will be hard to beat around , here from now on. Crowhurst rode His Excellency to perfection. Eva Rice showed a fine turn of speed, hut at the end was tiling badly and barely lasted long enough to hold second place. • Jolly Soger was outrun in the first part of the race, but finished stoutly and gamely under punishment. Strangest would have been second with a better ride. Miller got him badly shut off ■■ on the far turn just as the horse was making his run. Dutch Comedian showed some speed. Lomond smothered his field for speed and won running away. He was much l the best and was in a sott spot. Satan ran gamely. Barney F. was the victim of a bad ride. Maccabee seems to be of no present account. The same can fie said of Commonwealth Attorney who is a plodder at his beak. YV. P. Magrane ran the winner up to 00 and got him.
