HARLEM RACING. At Harlem yesterday Sly, with only 98 pounds and jockey Buchanan on her back, came home by herself in the six-furlong handicap, and after the race the ring realized to its sorrow that the speedy daughter of Racine— Aurelia II. had won. Sly opened at 6 to 1, but wa pounded down to 4 to 1 by post time. May Beach set a terrific pace for Sly. stepping the first five-eighths of a mile in 59i seconds, but this fast pace ook all the run out of her and when the pinch came she 6taggered all over the track and was lucky to get second place. In the first race of the day Henry Burt at 30 to I beat a dozen other maiden two-year-olds in 551 seconds for four and a half furlongs. Gwynne Tompkins handsome little filly Frond galloped home alone in the steeplechase. Frond is probably the smallest horse in the jumping game, but nevertheless few, if any. can fence better than she. Myosotis would probably have beaten Frond had she stood up. She seemed to be goin well in hand ami was neck and neck with Frond when she fell, at the tenth obstruction. Bone Setter fell at the same time Myosotis did. and OBrien, who rode him, had his collar bone broken. Free Hand and Malaise, both fast fillies and both at a long price, won the fourth and sixth races respectively, off by themselves. Jockey Inez Ruiz, who was injured in the second race at Harlem on Saturday, is improving rapidly, but it will be some time liefore Le can ride again. Willie Waldo, who met with misfortune in the same race, is suffering from a broken right clapicle, and it will be five weeks before lie is able to ride. In all probability Willie Caywood. one of the jockeys at Harlem, and one of the best judges of pace, will ride All Gold in the American Derby. In future a majority of "Lucky" Baldwins mounts will be ridden by Jockey Hothersall, who arrived at Harlem yesterday. T. Burns returned yesterday and will make Chicago his home till snow flies. Jockey Buchanan was set down yesterday for the remainder of tlie Harlem meeting as far as outside mounts are concerned. For his ride on Money Muss on June 14, jockey Mclntyre was yesterday indefinitely suspended by the judges at Harlem. On that day the owner of Money Muss said the gelding was good and should have won. The impressive win of Money Muss yesterday bore out Mr. Watkins assertion, and therefore caused the judges to take drastic measures against Mclntyre. Jockey Kiley was fined 5 by the Harlem judges yesterday for not riding out Crosby iu the fourth race. Jockey Tim Murphy is a recent addition to the steeplechase riding brigade. Murphy is a good rider.
