Jackson Smith, who has presided in the past three meetings, has decided to sever his connections with racing in an official capacity. Nobody lias been mentioned to succeed Mr. Smith, and the Newport management is anxious for him to continue in office, but Mr. Smith has avowed that lie is done witli racing as an official. James R. Keeue heads the list of winning owners at the Sheepshead meeting just closed, with a total of S19.130 to his credit. Prince of Melbournes victory in the Realization placed F. D. His penalty and the concessions allowed to rivals that were not so fortunate in the early part of the season place him at a great disadvantage in condition stakes in which he has to struggle under heavy imposts.
