Martin took the shortest route, waited until the natural spread came at the head of the stretch, and in the final furlong the lilly came like a flash. Miss Shauley run her usual good honest race. Scarlet Lib finished stoutly and would have been second in a few more strides. Princess Th ra is not at her best. She showed plenty of speed, but when the pinch came weakened badly. Tremble, off poorly and worse ridden, made up a lot of ground ami ran a good race. Belle of the Gleu showed some speed, hut ran far below expectations. Olekma is a speedy filly, but must have a muddy track to do her best. Scratched— 18974The Sprite. 110: 15698 Syra. 95. Overweights— Olekma, 2 pounds; Miss Vallera, 11. Winner— Br. c. by Patton— Dosta. Went to post at 3 :05 At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won in a drive. The next four were also driving. Silver Coin won principally through Knights good ride. The boy took a long chance to get through at the head of the stretch succeeded and managed to win. Einstein was "cherry ripe" and ran a good race. This horse, and in fact, most horses from the same stable, are inconsistently handled. Pupil had no excuse and ran his best race. The ride on Algareta was a fright. Such a good mare as this is certainly worthy of the best rider at the track. Branch was right there at the finish and can win as soon as the track becomes muddy. Tragedys performance was far below the mark. She can do better. Overweights— Branch, l! pounds: Crane, 1. Silver Coin, place, 3 to 1; show, 7 to 5. Einstein, place. 6 to 1 : show, 3 to 1. Fly by Night was far ilie best and made a show of his field. Bullman seems to understand the gelding and apparently rides him better than any other jockey. He went to the front on thetirrl lurn and allowed Fl by Night to set his own pace. Potente ran a cracking good race aud i- about in hi- -.rst form at present. Andes had no excuses He tried hard to catch Fly by Night the first part of the race ;.nd was much used in doing so. but everything considered he did his best and finished where he belonged. Knight was always in a good position and on the best horse rode a gcod race. Rollins had no excuses whatever and did all that was expected from him. bishop Reed i- a mudlark of high degree and when he strikes a track to his liifing he will be hard to beat. Moik La Yega for early action. He could not get to going in the fir t part of the race and was rid li u all around his field, but finished with a tremendous rush, and can win soon if placed right. Insurrection met with interference at the start, otherwise she would have been hard to beat. Overweights— Fair Deceiver. I pounds : Insurrection, 2; Bishop Reed, 3; La Vega, 11; Mello-cole, 24. Garry Hermann is a high-class colt and this race was an easy thing for him. Boland rode like a frightened monkey but he was on so much the best colt that he could not keep from winning. Kid Cox is certainly a youngster of fair class and this race was a smashing good one for him. Schoolmaster was always in sight aud ran his best race. Fancy Wood had a rough journey. Knight tried several times to get through with her but met with interference at every turn. Silverdale got away flying, was well handled and had no excuse- whatever. Orimar is in rare form and won like a good horse. Winkfield met with some interference during the journey, but he never got rattled and waited until the natural spread came at the head of the stretch, where he got through finally and after that there was nothing to it. Espionage ran her race. Tayon was close up all the way and ran a frood race. The ride Catastrophe got was enough to beat any good horse. Greatland got away on the extreme outside and ran much farther than any other horse. The Pride showed quite a bit of speed. Silver Garter was never near the front and his race was hardly to form.
