CALIFORNIA KACINO Mr J W Brooks Racing Secretary of the California Jockey Club writes as follows con ¬ cerning the racing that is to take place next fall and winter over the San Francisco tracks tracksThe The coming racing season of J1B0102 wm be given under tha auspices of the new California Jockey Club There are many reasons why the omihg season should be a most successful one because the interest of all lovers of the sport et kings will be concentrated under this one racing banner bannerFirst First of all there is the new California Jockey Club with its capital stock of 1000000 e which threefourths ia owned bj Mr Thomas H Williams Jr Colonel D M Burns Clarence P Waterhouae and othar members of the old California Jockey Club while the otker quar ter of the stock of 250000 is owned by some of the most prominent buaineta men of San Fran ¬ cisco Oakland Sacramento and Los Angeles AngelesThe The next reason is that the horsemen will be united as they must work for the interest of the owners of the track so as to enable them to offer large purses and greater inducements for horsemen to come from all sections of the country countryGood Good horses can no longer dodge each other by waiting through one meeting to race at an ¬ other This alone will insure many high class races and will be of great benefit tojtho betting fraternity as horses cannot race badly at one track and well at another as has been the case without official action being taken takenAnother Another innovation for the good of all is the employment of two of the greatest starters in America Messrs Dwyer and Holtman who will officiate alternately during the season This will also enable the handicapper to secure far better and more evenly balanced fields than when the racing aasociations were in existence as horsemen when dissatisfied with the weights cannot keep their horses in the stable waiting to aee what wonld be allowed them by the hand ¬ icapper of the other aaeociation They must run to show the handicapper if they have been treated too harshly and others too leniently as the result of the raae IB the only real way to demonstrate whoia right or who is wrong wrongAnother Another reason advantageous to all is that the racing will continue at the separate tracks for a period longer by two weeks than formerly In this way owners will be saved many dollars in transportation The season will open at Tanforan November 2 at a time of the year when the weather is pleasant and finish upon the Oakland course where it is always mild mildThis This new club will offer in stakes and purses for the 151 days beginning November 2d and ending May 15th about 375000 There will be Iwentyfive stake events set for the Saturday of each week There will be specials and handi ¬ caps of from 500 to 1000 in valne for each Thursday The Burns handicap of 510COO will still be the feature of tke season The nine new stakes that have boon made in addition to the sixteen old ones have been so arranged as to bring the beet horses of all ages and at all dis ¬ tances together togetherOwing Owing to the large amount of racing given by the State Agricultural Association this sea ¬ son beginning at Sacramento with twelve days from September 2 to September 14 inclusive then the Oakland Racing Association of Ala meda county with eight days at the Oakland track beginning September 16 and ending Sep ¬ tember 24 and then Los Angeles for thirteen days September 28 to October 12 inclusive there will be from SCO to 600 good horses fully prepared to participate at the very beginning of thn regular meeting meetingThis This should enable the new California Jocker Club to offer to its patrons high class racing each day of the entire season
