CALIFORNIA RACING PROSPECTS SABATOGA N Y August 28 Calif orma racing the coming winter will have an infusion of new blood in the way of eastern horses and bettors Mr Thomas H Williams Jr and Mr Charles F Price president and general manager re ¬ spectively of the New California Jockey Club have been at Saratoga for the past two weeks booming the California game This is the first time the California Jockey Club has had personal representatives in the eastern field and they have succeeded in securing a number of itablcB that have heretofore never raced weet of the Alleghanios Mr Williams left for the Coast last week but Mr Price will remain here to the end of the meeting and then go to Sheepshead Bay BayAmong Among the Eastern turfmen who have stated that they will race in California are A Feath erstone who will send out a dozen good ones J G Follansbee who has Boahampton and half a dozen other highclass horses L V Bell with Alcedo and others W L Oliver with All Gold and five stable companions T C Patter son with All Green etc Mr Keene with half a dozen and Mr W C Whitney who will send out a few as a compliment to Mr Williams and the California Jockey Club ClubA A line on the jockeys has also been obtained by Mr Price and all the prominent boys will be in California the coming winter Spencer B oilman OConnor Turner Burns Cochran Monnce J Woods who has developed into a star since leaving the coast McCue and somo of the lesser lights will go to the coast It is likely also that Odom the Mackay jockey will go westward westwardAll All of the old stables will also return with the exception of Hildreth who will come here with the hope of reinstatement by the Eastern Jockey Club Green B Morris will remain in the east until October and then ship to Tanforan TanforanThe The California season will begin on November 2 at Tanforan where racing will continue for about thirty days In the meantime it is ex ¬ pected that Ingleside will ba opened and if it is racing will follow there after Tanforan and continue for sixty days Then the scene will shift to Oakland and continue until April AprilMr Mr Price says there will be more money hung up than ever before and that hereafter it is the intention of the California Jockey Club to have fewer days and higher class racing The scale of weights also in the overnight events will be raised sufficiently to allow the better class of jockeys like Bpei cer Turner Bullman etc to have a mount in every race instead of but one or two mounts a day The stake circular which has been issued shows that 56000 will be dis ¬ tributed in these events while the overnight purses will include handicaps and specials with amounts from 600 to 1000 added addedHereafter Hereafter the judges in California will not have the power to suspend or rule off but will renort all cases to the stewards who will act thereon The board of stewards will be com ¬ posed of C H Pettingill Chas F Price F E Mulholland Col Dan Burns and Thomas H Williams The judges will be Joseph Mnrphy presiding and E C Hopper associate
