NOTES OF THE TURF. J. J. B,, Chicago. An apprentice rider is one who has never ridden a winner and who has taken out a license as an apprentice, being under age and bound to owners or trainers for a term of not less than three years by a written instrument. Bnllivan has been riding as a full fledged jockey for several years. Apprentice allowances were not made in the Iwest prior to this year. A. E. Malonoy and Co., Bhreveport, La. OConnor is accounted to be about ad skillful as any jockey now riding in this country. A Subscriber. A. does not win his bet on Whiskey King. In handbook betting he muBt stand by his wager as it was made. At Sheepshead Bay yesterday Nasturtium is reported to have worked a phenomenal seven furlongB, defeating his stable companion, Goldsmith, the time and fractions being 24, 47, 1:00,1:126, 1 :25. Y. Z.: Yankee ran in Maddens name, but Mr. Whitney owns a half interest in him. Coupling is not enforced as strictly in the eaBt as it is in tbe west, and your wager follows eastern betting roles, under which Yankee was not held to be in Whitneys entry.
