ENDURANCE BI RIGHT. That Endurance by Bight is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, of the fillies whoBe brilliant performances have adorned the history of the American turf was fully recognized here long ago by reason of her great deeds at the A CONTINUED ON FIFTH PAGE, ENDUBANCE BY BIGHT. ; Continued from First Page. Washington Park mooting In the east her ! transcendent merit is now fully recognized as ; the following from the New York Bun of Mon-day will attest : "Endurance by Bights first appearance on the metropolitan circuit was in the FlatbuBh Stakes. At that time Mr. Schorr said that the filly was not exactly herself, so that when she , finished third to Nasturtium and Goldsmith, i her performance, even though it was not a victory, was pronounced creditable. Inspector B.s daughter won three of the races, however, before the Sheepshead Bay meeting : ended. On September 6 she picked up 126 poundB in a purse race at five and a half E furlongs and galloped away from Jim Tully, , Pretorius, Peninsula and others. Her time , was 1 :07. Four days later, with 124 pounds as 5 had trouble in defeating r an impost, the filly no . Caughuawaga, Belles Commoner and others 3 at three-quarters of a mile in 1:13. Then 1 again on September 14 Endurance by Bight shouldered 126 pounds and romped over six c furlongs in 1:13, a winner in front of Bom-brero, Otis and others. This wbb the Great EaBtern Handicap of ,500, the fillys richest victory to date. Last Friday she won the Willow Stakes in a canter, carrying 119 pounds, her opponents being Hanover Queen, Eock-water, Early Eve, Amicitia and Pretoria. Her moBt marvelous performance was in the Holly Handicap, when she carried 130 pounds and covered five and a half furlongs in 1:07. That achievement in itself warranted the statement made by many turfmen yesterday that Endurance by Bight is the greatest two-year-old filly of the year and the queen of the turf. Wherever racing was dis-cussed, the prevailing opinion was that Mr. Schorrs filly could defeat not only such high-clasB fillies as Blue Girl and Leonora Loring, but could also make such crack colts as Nasturtium, Goldsmith, Yankee, King Hanover and Heno Btretch their necks to beat her. In fact there is already talk of a match, or rather a sweepstakes, with the Brooklyn Jockey Club hanging up a purse j f : 1 j for a contest, in which Endurance by Bight 2 might measure strides with Heno, Nasturtium, 2 Yankee and perhaps Loonora Loring. As it haB j baen virtually decided that Blue Girl will n t 2 race again this season, chiefly bscause of the jj fact she has gone a bit stalo from overwork, a i meeting with Endurance by Bight is out of tho 2 question. But as Mr. Schorr has expressed a willingness to match his filly against any of the best two-year-olds, it is possible that a big race t may be arranged. "It is said that Clarence H. Macksy would j like to match his fine colt, Hono, against tho western filly and other two-year-olds, and would be willing .to subscribe ,000 for such an event, providing the conditions were seven pounds below the scale, colts to carry 115 poundB, fillies 112 pounds, distance about Bix furlongs. Heno, it will be remembered, was purchased by Mr. Mackay from John E. Madden just before the Futurity. In that race Heno was nothing but a green colt and finished last, but later he won a fine victory over Leonora Loring, which was the only defeat suffered by the Dr. McBride filly thiB season. If Heno, Endurance by Bight, Leonora Loring and Nasturtium could come together in a special four-cornered race, they would probably draw an immense crowd for racegoers have become so puzzled as to the real merits of various two-year-olda that they would like to see the matter decided in some such way as this."
