Captain January was very fast for the first mile and is steadily improving. The others wore outclassed. Gould and Bellamy were left at the post but went on after the others had gone a sixteenth. Winner Ch. f, by Fonso The Belle. , , , . , Went to post at 3:10. At post 1 minnt9. Start fair. ra Won cloverly; second driving. Belle of Troy was much hampered a half-dozen times daring the race, not having clear sailing nntil in the last qnarter, where she flashed past the field with anamazing burst of speed and was much the best. Peninsula was being pointed for this kind of race for a long time and just missed scoring, running a very fast and game race. Advance Guard lost ground at the Btart and improved hiB pneition throughout. Roxane broke slowly and ran around the field on the first turn and appeared like winning on the far turn, but succumbed to the terrific pace. Decanter found the company too fast at the weights, but was going strongly at the end. Kamara was bumped and intprf ted with in tho stretch by Advance Guard, but shn was plainly beaten at the time. Ethics showed more than ordinary speed in the race and is evidently in rare form for him. Scratched 28279 Water Cure, 116; 28594 Morningside, 102. Belle of Troy, show, 3 to 5. Cervera waited, under a pull, on the two pacemakers that were wearing themselves out in front and challenged Paul Clifford, which had disposed of The Puritan when a furlong out, than clever and judicious handling won a fast and good race for the son of Oddfellow. The Puritan was evidently short and will be hard to beat from now on. Annie Thompson was closing fast at the end. Bedeck went well. Glennellie ran poorly. .
