GBAVBSBND GOSSIP. New York, N. Y., Octobnr 2. Mr. August Belmont sails next Saturday for Europe. Fred Littleflald lias announced his retirement as a jockey and will take up the duties of public trainer. Lady Sterling was bid up and bought by M. L. Hayman for ,000 after her win today, bnt ha subsequently resold her to "Bill" Daly at a profit of 80. Daly, however, had in the meantime claimed Man oWar and thon gave him back for a bonuB of 80. Lady Sterling and Man o War were entered for 51,800 and ,100 respectively. The owner of Loonja, which ran so well in the second race today, is a prominent stockholder in the Oakley race track at Cincinnati.,,
