Duke of Connnught ran a good race, but faltered in the closing strides. Inspector Shea came fast in the last eighth and altogether ran a good racn. Mythrox showed much speed for five furlongs. He was much the beBt at the weights. Reeedas race was a surprise and was undonbtodly the best effort of her life. She ran fast and finished stoutly. Rolling Boer came with a rnsh at the end but too late to b of any avail. Be ran below the mark. Orontas could never get up and his race was not to his true form. Lucion Appleby got off flying and showed a high flight of speed, but was tiring fast at the end. Harry New was right there up to the last eighth, but failed wben the pinch came. He lost some ground by swinging wide at tho head of the stretch. Legal Maxim showed well for a half mile. Sol Lichtonstein ran a good race for a little over four fourlongs, but gradually fell away beaten when coming down the Btretch. Overweights Jane Oaker, 2 pounds. Henry Burt went into the lead soon after the first quarter had been reached and was never heade d thereafter, finishing with plenty to spare. Goal Runner ran well, but was well spent in the last sixteenth and bad to be driven out to the last ounce to stall off Valdez rush at the end. Vald ez awoke with a start and showed in great contrast to his lass performance. He finished fast and would have been second in a Btride or two. Jimintz showed improvement over his last two races. He should be a hard horse to beat at his next asking. Both Denman Thompson and Hi Nocker faltered vi hen the rub came. Overweights Goal Bunner, 2 pounds; Valdoz, 2; Denman Thompson, 3.
