THOROUGHBRED SALES j One of the smallost crowds seen at any of the sales thiB season was at the Fasig-Tipton Com-pany paddocks opposito the Bheepshead Bay racetrack Wednesday, when J. Story Cnrtia j disposed of his Mayfleld stud. The stallion Saville, winner of the Goodwood Cup and other races in England and Africa, brought about the most spirited bidding and was sold to J. A. Hodge for 510,000. Hodge was acting as an agent. Star Actress brought ,300, the boat price of the mares. The sales follow: Saville, b. h, 17, by Hampton Lillian; J. A. Leigh and several othore were sold in the Fasig-Tipton Corn-pan s paddocks at Bheepshead Bay Thursday before a crowd which did not number much more than 100. There was lively bidding at times, however, and fairly good prices were received. The stallion Royal Flush sold for tho highest price, aa he was knocked down to Green B. Morris for ,500. John Madden began the bidding with ,5C0 and from that point on it was between Morris and McDonald. Arrow- grasB, the dam of Vulcain, went for a fair price as W. Hayward, Jr., gave ,800 for her. A weanling out of Arrowgrass was purchased by Milton Young for ,150, while a yearling ont of the eame mare was sold to John Madden for ,600. . After this sale ended eight mares left over from the Mayfleld Stud lot of Wednesday were put up in a bunch and sold to Amos Turney for 00.
