The latter showed speed but quit in the last sixteenth. Impromptu ciosed up fast in the last eighth and appeared to have a chance but tired faBt in the closing Hindus. Sim W. ran a good race. He wsb pocketed badly when opposite the last sixteebih poBt and could never get through. Shut Up and Georgie showed speed for a half mile. Overweights Sim W 21 pounds ; Delmarch, 2. Deboe ran a good race and only faltered in the last few strides. Merriment came with a great ruth at the end, but it was too late to be of any avail. Sharp Bird, as usual, ran wide at the head of the Btretch, losing ground. But for this he might have won. Goal Runner ran a dull race and was never a contender. The others never had a chance. Off at the first break to a good start. Won handily ; second easily. Bessie Spahr put up a high class race, but had to be huBtled out to stall off South Trimbles bid at the end. She outspeaded him, however, in the last twenty yards. South Trimble finished stoutly, as usual, but was not quite good enough to beat the winner. Mac Gyle ran a surprisingly good race and showed more gameness than usual. He finished stoutly but had no chance to beat the winner. Flying Torpedo despite his light impost ran a dull race. He was well spent when a furlong out and ran far below expectations. Charley Moore ran well for six furlongs. He assumed command when turning into the stretch and appeared to be winning easily in the last fifty yards but John McGurk came with a sudden rush near the end causing Jackson to drive his mount out to the limit. Steele put up a weak ride on John McGurk. He had him cut off badly at the six furlongs post and meBsed him about generally. The horse never got clear sailing until in the last hundred yards. Yaldez had enough when a furlong out. Strangest finished Btoutly. Adelante ran well for seven furlongs. Frangible ran a good race and is ready to win in the mud. Corrected weightB Yaldez, 103.
