TO BOOH SARATOGA. Saratoga is going to take the initiative in giving to the turf in America races of the same value as the " famous 10,000 pounders " which havs been such a feature of the sport in England. If "money makeSjthe mare go" the value of these events will induce owners to reserve some of their best horses for long distance events, and never again will such an important stake as the Annual Champion be won by such an inferior animal as the Maid of Harlem. The Board of Directors of the Saratoga Association met in New York Munday and decided to open the following events, announcement of conditions of which will be made later : A stake of 0,000 to be run in 1901, a two-year-old stake in 1903 of 5,000, a two-year-old stake in 1904 of about 0,000 and a two-year-old stake for fillies to be run in 1903 of 4,000. In addition the regular events given in 1901 will be continued. There will be an entirely new track, which will be one and one-eighth miles, with a mile and seven-eighths of a mile chute. This will necessitate an entire change in the arrangements of the course, and will include a new grand stand on an enlarged scale.
