CALIFORNIA JOCKEY CLUB STAKES. In this issue the California Jockey Club advertises its second liet of stakes, which will closa for entries at midnight of Monday, November 4. These stakes are all to be run after January 1, 1902, the list to be run prior to that date having closed October 5. Most important of tho present list is the noted Burns Handicap, the star event of the California racing season. It is of the guaranteed value of 0,000 and in that respect, as well as in its distance of a mile and a quarter, is eqnal to the Suburban ana the Brooklyn handicaps and a prize worthy of any turfmans desire. Daily Bacing Foem earnestly commends these valuable stakes to the consideration of all turfmen who are contemplating a winter campaign over the finely-appointed tracks governed by the California Jockey Club. Winter racing in California is the equivalent of summer racing in the east and is generously supported by the cosmopolitan, and sport-loving people of Ban Francisco, in many rsspects the most delightful city in the United States in which to pass a few pleasant months. The Adam Andrew Selling Stakes, 3-year-olds and upward, ,500; 1 1-16 miloB. The Lissak Handicap, 3-year-olds and upward, ,500; 1 mile.
