Sparklet beat the gate and this combined with great speed gave her the victory over Early Eve. The latter broke flat-footed and was pocketed next to the rail in the first quarter. She made a strong bid when a furlong out but the effort to get np proved too much for her. Flirtineer ran well and is steadily improving. Destitute quit. GeneBeo got off badly. Oom Paul was favored in not being forced along at a faster early pace and drew away gamely when challenged by Potente in the stretch. The latter did his best but was lacking in his accustomed early speed, evidently having had too much of it lately. Andy Williams ran a fast and .game race butwas handicapped by a poor ride. Latson and Black Dick ran poorly and Handi-cappers race was extremely bad. Scratched-29187 The Bhymer, 126; 28818Paul Clifford, 119. Oom Paul, show, 1 to 4. Potente, show, 1 to 3. Winner Br. c, by His Highness Lilita II. Went to post at 4:05. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won driving; second the same. Carl Kahler was lucky and had the early speed to take a good position, but was swerving badly in the stretch and was lucky to beat the fast coming Biff. The lattar got away poorly and was frequently impeded in the race. Tour ran in improvd form, and but for interference by the winner at the eighth post would have bsen closer up. Princess H. showed much speed and hung on well. Wellesley, which has worked very fast, got away badly, but closed a tremendous gap and will probably win soon. Flora Pomona, lucky, and a superior class filly ovr a distance, ran on her own courage throughout and finihsd samel. Rsdpath broke flatfooted and was a good horse badly mossed about, and but for a weak aud inefficient finish by Booker would havo won. PaninBula quit in the stretch and Iff probably stale. Champagne, off badly and bumped on the first turn, never fully recovered, but made up a lot of ground at the end. Connecticut and Demurrer ran like non-stayers.
