EASTERN YEARLING TRIALS. Concerning reported trials of some of the yearlings that will makd their debut iu races for two-year-olds over the New York tracks next year a writer says in Daily America: "Now the sales are over and the young una are safely in tho hands of their purchasers. Aa a whole those that have been seen look particularly promising. There is not a sick one in any barn, the trials for the most part have been satisfactory, and tho outlook for good juvenile racing during the next year could not be better. "As far as the trials are concerned, however, the lottery is still in ovidance. They are not always borne out during the next years racing by any means, and disappointments ara plentiful. "In this connection I may state that the late Mr. D. D. Withers once expressed tha opinion to me that there was not one yearling trial in twenty that was verified in tho two-year-old form. "Among the smart trials that have bean brought off, I can call to mind several that have bean particularly good, and the watchful turfite can take them for what they ara worth. "At Gravesend the bay colt by Albert Lady Useful, one of six in P. J. Dwyers establishment, turned three furlongs over a good track, in 36 seconds. "The bay colt by Hindoo Bastante, of tha same lot, did tha distance in .371. "Tha bay colt by Sir Dixon Miss Annie did the trick iu half a second less time. "Merry Acrobat, a chestnut colt by Hand spring Merry Thought, turned the same ground in .37. "The chestnut filly by Handspring War Man tie was tried iu the same time. "The bay colt by Jim Gore Galatea did a quarter in 24 seconds. The trial caused him to buck and he has a sore pair of shins. "C. F. Dwyors chestnut colt by Ornament Emma Primrose ; bay colt by Halma "Virginia Kenny ; bay colt by Tenny Puffer, and bay colt by Bussell Galine II. covered the three furlongs distance in 37 and 371 seconds. Joyners youngsters, Burgundy, Yaqui, Tioga and others were not asked any severe questions. Ho is suro of his material and is not a great believer in breakneck yearling trials. "Trainer W. O. Scully has asked littlo of his yearlings. Ho has given up the string of horses that he so successfully managed for L. M. Myers during the season, and now Leonora Lor-ing and others will paES into other hands. Mr. Scully still haB four racers in an amplo barn on the backstretch at the Bay,"
