St. Sover broke slowly and was outrun early, but closed up strongly next to the rail in the stretch and got up in the final stride. He was quite eore when noing to the post. John Peters hd worked fast and showed brilliant Bpeed. He appeared to be a certain winner almost throughout and was probably unlucky to lose, as his jockey was caught napping. Dr. Sharff went on a long and losing stretch turn journey. Anna li. was carried wide, but rn in promising style, was evidently short, and should improve. Legal Maxim got away badly. Evander succumbed after essaying to outpace John Peters to the stretch. Scratched Old England, 107; 29537 Phil Crimmina, 106; Rosa of China, 103. Overweights Dr. 8cbarff, 2 poundB. Bt. Herculean broke running but did not need this advantage, was unextended throughout and pulled up almost to :a walk ; at the end. He is in rare form and particularly liked the cuppy going. Galanthus, off poorly and not well handled, ran dully and as if s mewhat stale. Darlene ran consistently but ie of mediocre calibre and was hardly able to stand off Windwarda rush at the end. The latter should win soon. Bonnie Lisaak is in very bad form seemingly. Frank Bell met with Bpeed superior to bis own in such going and could never get up. Beau Ormonde went a fast half and quit at the end from lack of condition. Ho has worked fast. Pompino went well throughout. May W. sot off badly and showed very little speed, but the going was against her.
