MOTES OF THE TTJBF. Dr. H. E. Rowell has two fillies at Oakland which will become members of the two-year-old brigade on January 1. They have shown quarters in 241, and are being booked by the California railbirds as good things. One is by Magnet, out of 1 Declare, and the other by Figaro, out of Flossie. Much Eurprise is being expressed out on the coast at the many poor mounts that Jockey Spencer accepts. It seems peculiar that a boy of his reputation end known ability should not get better horEes to ride. J. W. Dayton, an American jockey, has arrived in London and applied to Mossrs. Weatherby, the clerks of the Jockey Club, for a license to ride. Dunlop, the Btallion Ed Corrigan imported from England, dropped dead last week at his ranch near Sacramento. Dunlop coat the former master of Hawthorne ,CC0. Frank Phillips, the well known trainer and horseman is ill in San FranciEco with threatened appendicitis. "Pat" Dunne intends to remain in California bnt six weeks. He may pick up a horse or two before returning east. - Papinta has sent out .instructions to dispose of about a dozen of her thoroughbreds at auction. "Long Ehot" Conley is expected to rido at Oakland this week.
