GOSSIP OE THE TURF. In speaking of the silver trophy which he is to add to the two-year-old event, to be known as the Cincinnati Cup and to have its first running at the Latonia spring meeting, Mayor Fleischmann said to a Cincinnati reporter recently: "I am not acquainted with the conditions or the distance of the race. They will ba arranged by the Latonia Jockey Club and announced by Secretary Hopper along with the other stake eventB in a few days. The money value of the event will be ,500. I have not placed the order for the trophy as yet, but it will bo genuinely a Cincinnati product. It ill be designed and manufactured in Cincinnati, by a Cincinnati firm. It will be of Bterling silver, and ifwe had a silver mine in Cincinnati I would have the ore dug, stamped and rolled hero." There are two yearlings in the outfit which are said to be very promising. They are both bay geldings. One, is bylFabulous Majio and the other is by King Eric Princees Rose. Hickey Brothers have made application for reinstatement by the Western Jockey Club. Bumors of improvements to the New Orleans track are being whispered about in reliable quarters. Among the changes to be made are a new club house and two short chutes, one for six furlongsland the other for seven furlongs races. All three will be .appreciated when com pleted.
