Eugenia Burch, running on the outside and compelled to race wide on the turns after a flatfooted start, closed up steadily, finished with a rush and was much the beat. St. Jude is a quick breaker, showed the way from the start and appeared like the winner in the stretch, but failed right at the end. Louise Elston displayed a good order of speed and held on well. Mamselle, away poorly, made up ground and finished fast and should improve greatly. She is a fine looker. Gravina was prominent for most of the journey and ran in improved form. B. Morris. Went to post at 3:40. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won easily : second the same. Old England went to the front after going the first quarter, after which he appeared a certain winner and drew away easily at the end when strongly challenged by Joseph. The latter came out of close quarters only in the last three furlongs and closed up with a tremendous rush at the end. Remorse, away badly, made u a lot of ground, practically dropping from the clouds in the last sixteenth and ran a remarkable race; Miss Buttermilk is promising, followed the fast pace closely for the first half and held on well at the endj Charles W. Winner B. c, by St. Maxim Frances b. trained by W. Miller. Went to post at 4:20. At post 3 minutes. Start fair. Won easily ; second the same. Francesco was crowded back on the first turn and badly interfered with, in spite of which he ran into the lead in the next quarter with a phenomenal burst of speed and won going away. Nones broke bo slowly as to have been nearly left and, under a drive throughout, made up a tremendous lot of ground and displayed remarkable gameness. Roxane failed to hold her own again Bt the first two in the last quarter. Cuspidor ran well and is a very useful horse. Trigger and Slipthrift were going well at the end. Homestead, next to the rail and repeatedly interfered with, was also handicapped in the cnppy going in which he was forced to run. St. Finnan and Colonel Bill tired at the end of seven furlongs.
