Otis simply played with hie field and the result was never in doubt. Favonius took kindly to the sloppy going and was much the best of the others. Brief, although she doesnt like the mud, ran in much improved form and is at her best just now. She bears watching over a fast track. The others were never serious contenders. Captain Hugh Bradley ran a good race and bears watching. Pluck was beaten just after turning for home. Lady Matchless ran far below her best form. Mda showed much early speed. Ethel Wheat finished strongly and was gradually going away at the end. She ran to her best form. Red Hook ran a surprisingly good race and finished reaolutely. Hanover Queen was the victim of an ill-judged ride. She broke flat-footed and was ridden too hard in the first quarter to make up ground and had nothing left to finish with. Fisher was of no help to her when the last eighth struggle came up. Geyser faltered for a few strides turning into the stretch, but rallied again in the last sixteenth. Maud Gonne showed early speed. Bag Tag was well beaten turning for home. Carl Kahler displayed a flash of speed in the first quarter. The winner, nntared for 8900, was run up to ,605 and bought in. A.
