He worked Thursday, after the last race, a mile and a furlong in 1:54 flat, which was phenomenally fast, in view of the cuppy state of the going, which necessitated his taking the middle of the track, going wide on all the turns. Peter Wimmer, W; P. Burch, John Hyland, G. B. Morris, Julius Bauer and Tom Healy all had probable "starters in the same event and were inter-5 ested spectators of the trial and all agreed that tho son of Hermeuce had the race at his mercy. Maddens chestnut colt Yardarm, by Henry of Navarre Yseult, was pronounced by experts a superlative mud horse after his victory in the third race today, and the fact of his not being a sound horse accounts for his better showing in soft going-as against bis previous running on a fast traqk. That J. "B. Haggins high-priced stable jockey, Wonderly, did not weigh out to ride the favorite and supposed crack two-year-old Elliott in the fifth race, but that Lyne had the mount instead, occasioned considerable remark and rumors were rife that there was a serious difference growing out of Wonderlys unskillful handling of Ada Nay in, Thursdays race, won by Dazzling.
