THE HAWTHORNE PROGRAM. Racing will be resumed at Hawthorne next Monday. The big, new grand stand, although not completely finished in respect to painting and minor details, will be ready for patrons of the course. The program book for next week was issued yesterday by Secretary Clark and calls for the decision of three stakes. Monday the Speculation Handicap, 1 1-16 miles, with ,500 added and seventy-four entries, will be the chief feature Thursday the Midsummer Stakes, at six furlongs for two-year-olds, will be run. It has ,000 added, is a selling sweepstakes and has fifty nominations. Saturday will bring about the decision of the richest stake offered by the Chicago Jockey Club, the Northern Handicap, 1 1-4 miles, ,000 added. In this the best horses now in training in the west will compete, and with a good day and track a tremendous contest is a certainty. The purses provided are sixteen of 00, ten of 00, four of 00 and three of 00.
