Verify was probably the best horse. The latter was in a pocket and never got clear sailing until tbe field struck the stretch. Joe Collins, hampered early, closed strong. Beauty Book and Mr. Mulkey finished stoutly. Don Luis and Lou McConkie quit like quarter horses. Assessment suffered some interference at the start. Joe Goss, show, 2 to 1. Verify, show, 1 to 2. He came on with plenty of speed and won hand ridden afterwards. Clate Bell was the best of the others. Welcome Light closed stoutly. Jockey Slack was suspended indefinitely. Jim Clark was rated behind the pace to the half, moved up when Felix Bard came along, came away in the stretch and won at his leisure. Felix Bard was slow to begin, but closed ground fast. He was clearly second best. Bengal was used excessively in making the pace. Bluemiut was fairly well ridden, taken out of the early pace and had something left to finish with. The latter challenged the winner at the head of the stretch, but tired in the stretch run. Crime was badly handled, but by no means ran to her true form. Barnacle, show, out. Bacchus off badly, was cut off sharply on the backstretch and was in a pocket for a half mile, but came aronndthe field fast in tho stretch, finished strongly and was the best. Satchel was pocketed to the last hundred yards, then fame fast when clear. Hucena tired from pace-setting, but struggled on gamely. Temptress shownd speed, but was possibly shoit. Guide Rock was given an easy race. Mission ran a better race than the form shows. Nettie Regent sulked. Overweights Bacchus, 3 pounds ; Jane Oaker, 4. Bacchus, show, 6 to 5. Satchel, show, 6 to 1. Hucena, show, 3 to 5. Nuttio Regent, show out.
