The Musketeer, favored by the soft going, broke running and indulged the pacemaker to the far turn, where he went to the front with great ease and was best. Clorita finished very strongly and ran a high class race. Delagoa finished fast and just got up in the last stride to beat King Pepper. The latter got away badly and displayed amazing speed in the first quarter and held on well after excessive early use. Maud. Gonne went well throughout. San Nicholas race was a slight improvement over his last. Ordnung ran a dull race as if sore. Wissendine is worth remembering when placed right. Port Boyal was reserved for the first mile and made good in easy fashion at the end. Pearl Finder moved up fast on the stretch turn and took the lead, but only on sufferance and was tiring rapidly in the last sixteenth. Andy Williams was left standing but went fter the field and closing a tremendous gap finished with a rush and was probably best. Ben Howard failed to stay. Won driving; second easily, Ella Snyder broke slowly and covered much ground in the first half, but being vigorously ridden beat the best horse in Sweet Alice The latter was weakly handled at the end. Epidemic was prominent in the first half and fell away in the last furlong. Arcade closed an immense gap. Farcraft, pocketed and messed about, ran a cracking good race. Fortunatus went in remark ably improved form. Sir Preston was excessively used in the first half and tired. Leader, crossed at the start, and a slow beginner, was carried hopelessly wide on the turns and is a coming good one. Winner Br. g, by Potomac Zimora trained by V. Hayward. Went to post at 4:20. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second the same. Douro and Baron Pepper are both proven stayers and high-class cup horses. Douro was superbly ridden, had clear sailing and a powerful finish won out for him. Baron Pepper, at a great disadvantage in acting as pacemaker and failing to force the pace, was best at the weights and going fastest at the end after falling back when a furlong out. Ethics, unlucky and compelled to race wide on the turn, put up a good, game race in going slightly against him. Bar Le Due is steadily improving and was, with Daly and Par Excellence, outclassed by the first three. Par Excellence was overweighted with this kind and fell away when the real racing commenced. Huntress, particularly favored by the soft going and in rare form, trailed to the stretch turn, where she moved np like a flaeh and easily downed Bines, which she caught tiring a furlong out. Slightly lame before the race the latter failed to stay, tiring suddenly in the stretch and was evidently short. Extinguisher, a fast horse and well in hand for six furlongs, failed to stay.
