Rising Sun was skillfully handled and led throughout and was strongly challenged in the last time around by Fulminate and Rowdy, but easily shook them off and came away fast at the end. Rowdy was a remarkably good horse today, but somewhat handicapped by an amateur rider. Fulminate appears in splendid condition, but was not keyed up for such a race with good ones. He fenced cleanly and displayed superior speed, but tired at the end and will beat these the next time he meets them. Scotch Bush ran promising and is worth remembering. Mary Mc-Cafferty secured a lucky start, showed great speed, was skillfully ridden and just lasted long enough. Gloriosa followed the winner closely throughout and was wearing her down at the end. Dinksie came from -a long way back and finished with a rush. Lady Josephine raced throughout on the outside and failed to stay at the end. Ella Snyder closed up strongly in the stretch. Sparkle Esher tired in the stretch drive. Eva Russell was crowded on the turn and can do better. Bonne closed a gap and is improving. . Scratched 33838 Harriet 8. , 99. King Pepper got away running and made most of this advantage. He always liked this track and sustained his brilliant speed gamely at the end. Dublin was next to the rail and pocketed in the first part of the race, went around the field on the turn and closed up with a tremendous rush and was probably best. Colonel Bill secured a lucky start and ran well up throughout. He appeared certain of second place when a sixteenth out. but tired right at the end. Colonel Padden made up ground in the last half and is evidently in good form. Lady Schorr was prominent to the stretch, where she failed to stay and was pro1- a-bly short. Wealth was closing up well at the end. Hatasoo got away poorly, but lacked her usual speed and ran a dull race. Cameron was nearly left and only cantered through the journey. Won driving; second easily. Savable was, lucky and skillfully ridden and, favored with clear sailing, finished fast and strongly and wore Lord of the Vale down right at the end. The latter had drawn decisively clear of the field and appeared almcst a certain winner in the stretch, but was tiring at the end. Dazzling was compelled to race on the extreme outside of the big field, which lost her so much ground that she failed to come on in the last quarter, but was an easy third. Hurstbourne, next to the rail and lucky, went remarkably well. Africander closed a tremendous gap and finished like a cyclone. Irish Lads chances were destroyed in a jam on the slight curve Payne ran unexpectedly well. Skilful and Golden Maxim both suffered from crowding in the large field. Much interference puts form at a discount as to the others. Carbuncle, in great form, moved up fast on the far turn and closed with a tremendous rush in the stretch, but was lucky to beat South Trimble. The latter went very wide on the turn and was going the strongest at the end. Huntressa, carried out on the turn also, was coming fast at the end. Monograph held on better than usual. De Reszke failed to stay, but seemed the winner when straightened for the wire. Belle of Troy, in good form, was short and will be heard from. She is strictly a fall horsa. Keynote was closing up strongly at the end, but favors light weight. Lux Casta quit at the end of six furlongs. The Rival was overweighted and was always outrun. Clonmell outclassed the field and led unextended throughout. The Regent, lucky and well handled, saved ground on the turns and finished strongly. Ascension was nearly thrown on the first turn, losing a half dozen lengths, but gradually closed up and finished with a rush and was easily second best. Locket, fresh and good, ran in improved form.
