Arachne trailed the field to the turn for home, where he saved much ground by hugging the rail and finished with a rush. Iris displayed a fine turn of speed, but was ridden with poor judgment, causing her to tire at the end from excessive use in the early stages. Gayhilda, under indifferent handling, ran a sparkling race. Iola was pinched off and had to go around the field on the stretch turn. She finished with a rush. Miss Dooley ran a fair race and had no mishaps. Dandie Belle had no chance with the start. She showed a smart flash of speed in the middle stages, but quit at the end. Pay the Fiddler paced the field under a steady pull for the first half, but had to be slightly shaken up in the last quarter to stall off Obstinate Simon. The latter ran his usual game race, but was unequal to the task of conceding the weight. The Way, by virtue of his light weight, ran fairly well, but he is not much at present. Hinsdale showed improvement and was well up for a mile. Secnndus nut with repeated interference and was sharply pinched off at the three-quarters. Longh Derg would have been a sharp factor but for being practically left at the post. Chopin ran a dull race and can do better. Pay the Fiddler, show, 2 to 1. Obstinate Simon, show, out.
