Cast Iron, away in a tangle, ran a winning race on his own courage and with better handling would in all probability have won. Brissac appeared a probable stroDg contender on the last turn, but faded away in the run home. Worthington ran well for a half. Concertina was never dangerous. President was quickest in motion at the start, opened up a commanding lead in the first three-eighths, but tired from his early effort and would probably have been beaten had Melbourne Eclipse secured clear sailing in the stretch. The latter began slowly and persisted in hanging on the inner rail through the stretch drive. It appeared as if he was slightly impeded by President, but a claim of foul was not allowed. Florence H. found the route a little too far. Bodell came strongly at the end. Allhallowmas has worked fast, is a good looker and should improve.
