HARLEM3 CLOSING MEETING. Secretary Nathanson has made the following disposition of the fonr stakes he has hold in reserve for the fall meeting of the Harlem Jockey Clnb, The Forward Stakes will be run on the opening day, Monday, September 29; the Prairie State Stakes, October 1 ; tho Tecumseh Handicap, Saturday, October 4, and the Chicago Stakes, Monday, October 6, the last day of this seven day meeting. The Chicago Stakes, which will amount to close to ,C00, is the chief of these four events. Last year it was won by St. Marcoj. It is a stake for three-year-olds and upward, with penalties and allowances, at one mile, , COO added, and, as it has 109 entries and is likely to have a good field of startors, the gross value of the race cannot well fall mnch below the sum named, Among those horses most apt to go to the post are Corrigans imported pair, Scintillant II. and Hoso Tree, McChesney, Argregor, The Lady, Federal, Hunter Baino, Jiminez, Harry New, Six Shooter, Joe Frey, Otis, Caviar, Cambrian, WaBwift, Pink Coat, and pos-eibly Articulate, if he has returned from the east Some of these same horses are also engaged in the Tecumseh Handicap, which ia for three-year-olds and upward, at one mile and three furlongs. This race has received sixty-three entries, among them being such likely contenders as Aladdin, Little Scout, Corrigan, Flying Torpedo, Bon Mot, Scintillant II., John McQurk, Lucien Appleby, Hermencia, McChesney, Cambrian. Caviar, Waswift, Hunter Baine, Belles Commoner and Six Shooter. Entry fees of 0 each, with 5 additional to start and ,500 added by the Harlem Jockey Club, insure the stakes will be worth not far short of ,000. With seventy-one two-year-olds nominated, the Forward Stakes should make an interesting contest. It is a seven furlong race, with penalties and allowances, and will be worth upward of ,000. Dick Welles and Collonade are among the entries, but whether either will be here to run is not yet known. However, a well-balanced field can be expected from such youngsters of good class as Early, Sidney C. Love, The Picket, Bad News, Linguist, Lyman Hay, Gregor K., Au Bevoir, Philo, Gypzene, and others, The Prairie State is a selling stakes for three-year-olds and upward at one and one-eighth miles. It has sixty entries, will be worth over ,000. and should afford a good race among a number of the lesser lights in the stake class. Skilful, C. B. Ellisons high-class two-year-old, will be seen in a race or two during the meeting. During the seven days there will be four steeplechases, which will be the last of the local season; also sprint races of less than six f arlongs for three-year-bids and upward will be included in the program book, as they become permissable again by October 1. Green B. Morris will be here to race some of his good horses at the meeting, as he intends to lie over for two weeks on his way to California, and many other applications for stalls have been received from horsemen at Buffalo and New York, who expect to cut in here for a short spell while on their way west. Buchanan will be back here to ride during the meeting.
