Brutal was well ridden, came fast in the stretch, overcame serious interference and just got up in time. Little Tommy Tucker closed up fast in the last quarter, but tired in the last few strides. El Ghor was made excessive use of in the early part of the race and was allowed to swerve all over the stretch. Joe Collins ran an even race all the way. Pickles was rushed too much early, then pulled up in the stretch when Battiste saw she could not win. She could have been third. Mudlavia ran to the mark.
