ALADDINS TECUMSEH HANDICAP. Gloomy, rainy weather and the track deep with mud did not deter a largo crowd from going out to Harlem yesterday. A steady drizzle fell all afternoon fmaking it very difficult to see the horses. Much more inclement weather for racing could not be imagined. The sport was dull throughout, all the races being taken easily by the winners. The feature race of the day was the Tecumseh Handicap, a mile and three-eighths dash for three-year-olds and upward with ,500 added. Much interest was taken from the contest by the scratching of Lucien Appleby. Aladdin was made a 6 to 5 favorite and rewarded the confidence placed in him by his many backers by winning easily. Corri-gan, as was expected, led by a big margin up to the last quarter, where he fell away beaten and Flying Torpedo assumed command, but nearing the last eighth Coburn called on Aladdin and he easily passed into the lead, winning by a half length from Flying Torpedo, which beat Little Elkin eight for second place. Flying Torpedo rallied in the last eighth and finished strongly. Saaton was not strong enough to give him the vigorous ride he requires; Little Elkin tired in the last furlong. Corrlgan ran well for a little over a mile and then retired. Searcher ceas9d to be a serious contender after seven furlongs had been run. The stake was -worth ,930 to the winner. The days opener, a dash of six furlongs for three-year-olds and upward, proved to be an easy thing for Chickadee. Sandflea, closely pressed by Prue, showed the way to the head of the stretch, where Chickadee moved up, joined Sandflea in the last eighth and easily outstayed her to the wire, winning by two and one-half lengths. Sandflea finished six before Goldaga for second place. In the second race, a six furlongs dash for three-year-olds and upward, Fairbury proved to be the best, but his rider grew over-confident in the closing strides and came near throwing the race away. Fairbury ran Private Nolan into submission in the first half and then assumed a commanding lead. He appeared to be an easy winner in the last sixteenth, but Pirates Queen came with a rash, causing Kelly to hustle him out at the end. He won by a head,, while Pirates Queen beat Gracious nine lengths for second place. Gregor K. is certainly a splendid two-year-old in a heavy holding track. He had little trouble in winning the fourth race, a dash of five and a half furlongs for all ageB. He led all the way, winning in a canter by three lengths from Jack Demund, which beat Duelist five and a half for second place. The long distance race went to the outsider Obstinate Simon. Star Cotton showed the way until nearing the last quarter where Alaska moved up last and when turning for home appeared to bo the winner but about the last eighth post Obstinate Simon easily wore him down winning by a length from Barrack which beat Alaska a head for second place. Alaska tired fast in the closing strides and would have lost second place in another stride or two. The last race of the day, a six furlongs dash, was taken by Banish, which beat Compass a head on the post, with Alee third, four lengths back.
