Chuctanunda broke running, made the most of his advantage, forced a stiff paco to the stretch, where he drew away decisively and was easing up at the end. Blues, slow to get in his striae, was apparently beaten at the start and was fully extended following tho winners pace and ran a game race. Hr. ran in Farrells colors in epite of having been sold at auction in the paddock before the race to A. J. Joyner for ,000, not half his value. Ho is generally understood to have been bought in. Only one outside bid was made of ,500, and that by J. E. Madden. Wild Thyme, outclassed and always outrun, put up a good fight. Won driving ; second tho same. Self Protection, skillfully ridden, waited until the last quarter before making his run, closed unexpectedly well, but was lucky to hava been better than third. Inspector Stevens and Adjidaumo came strong at the end and beat Fulminate, which was pulled up to a walk in tho last sixteenth after secure of second place. But for running over Judgo Phillips at the last jump and losing a half dozen lengths he would have won. Judge Phillips was much tho best and was cantering with a ilong and winning lead, when he struck tho last jump and fell. Self Protection, show. 7 to 10. Inspector Stevens, show, evens. Eugenia Burcli practically forced the pace throughout and was the gamest at the end. Hurstbourne ran a good race and was tiring in the last furlong, but responded eamely to punishment. Merry Acrobat, particularly favored by the wet going, closed up with a rush in tha last quarter. Astarita failed to stay. Sergeant also tired right at the end. Fire Eater, nearly left, made up fifteen lengths on tho leaders. Shpthrift got away badly and was sent after the flying pacemaker, overcoming a long lead in the first half and had the. race apparently won in the stretch, but was caught napping at the end and suffered from a weak finish. St. Finnan, away running, led for seven furlongs and held on remarkably well. He is a greatly improved horse. Sis Shooter closed a big gap but tired in the last fifty yards. Himself, badly handled and messed about, was a good horse in his own going. Tho others were hopelessly outrun. Scratched 35551 Hermis, 126; 345332 Wyoth, 115; 356453Flora Pomona, 106; 35432 G.
