Pretorius saved ground by being taken next to the inside rail when turning for borne and finished fast and resolutely. Charley Thompson faltered just after entering the last quarter, but rallied in the last sixteenth and came with a rush at the end. Leviathan tired just a shade in the last eighth, but recovered quickly in the closing strides and would probably have been second in another stride. Hargis also finished stoutly under a determined ride and was right there. The others were always outrun. LEtrenne ran Fort Wayne into early submission and then came away easily, winning as her rider pleased. Vine-tides was badly outrun for the first half mile, but moved up fast in the last eighth and finished strongly. He was much the best of the others. Andes made up mush ground in the last quarter and finished with a rush. Fort Wayne ran well for a half mile. Ahola showed some early speed. Scratched 35 449 Simple Susan, 107; 35524 Sandflea. 104. He steadily woro down Illowaho in the last eighth under a hard drive. John McGurk came with a rush at the end and ran a good race. Hayward Hunter came with a rush in the last sixteenth. Obstinate Simon ran his usual comistent race. Little Elkin was well beaten after one and one-eighth miles had been run.
