The latter was crowded back soon after the start and made up much ground and is in great form. Mercer clo?ed a tremendous gap from a bad start and was an easingup third. Coruscate evidently outclassed her field, worked into the bad going in the stretch, closing a big gap from a poor start, stuck to her work gamely at the end and can beat good ones. Pearl Diver came from far back and finished strongly. Florham Queen went steadily and gamely throughout. Tioga, taogledup at the start and bearing out on the turns, was repeatedly interfered with and can do better. Cranesvfile was prominent to the last sixteenth, where she tired and will improve. Winner Ch. c, by Hermence Katy of the West trained by J. H. McCormick. Went to post at 3:00. At post 2 minutss. Start good. Won handily; second driving. Hermis was much the best. He was very unruly at first and ran all over the track making a wide first turn, but easily took the lead in the last quarter and held it to the end with something in reserve. Ho is a great horse. Warranted, backed for a good thing at the weights, came dangerously near making good and outstayed the redoubtable Advance Guard in a terrific stretch drive. The latter, however, was not partial to the soft footing, but ran a grand ace. Herbert was injudiciously sent after the pacemakers early and app9ared like a contender on the stretch turn, but tired right at the end. Carbuncle only went the first mile well. Royal forced the pace in going he disliked and both combined to make him quit in the stretch. Scratched 35571 Articulate, 113; 35647Zoroaster, 102; 35623 Hunter Raine, 90; 34064 Sadie S., 90.
